About Me

Meet Our Expert Mental Health Professionals

Hi there — I’m Astrid Pena, LMHC, a licensed mental health counselor in Florida providing therapy services to individuals, couples, families, and teens in Miami, Kendall, and surrounding South Florida areas, both in person and online.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Miami in 2019 and completed my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Miami in 2023. During my clinical training, I completed internships at the Institute for Individual and Family Counseling and the Miami Job Corps Center, working with diverse populations and a wide range of mental health concerns. I became fully licensed in the state of Florida in September 2025.

As a bilingual therapist in Miami (English & Spanish), I am passionate about providing accessible, compassionate care that meets clients where they are. My therapeutic approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to support clients in achieving meaningful and lasting change.

I specialize in helping clients in Miami and Kendall with:

Anxiety

If anxiety has been keeping you stuck in overthinking, worry, or constant “what if” thoughts, you don’t have to manage it alone. Therapy can help you feel more grounded, calm, and in control—without feeling like your mind is always racing. Together, we’ll identify what’s fueling your anxiety and build coping tools that actually work in real life. My goal is to help you feel more confident, steady, and emotionally safe day to day.

Depression

Depression can make even simple tasks feel exhausting, and it can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and others. In therapy, you’ll have a supportive space to process what you’re carrying and begin rebuilding hope, motivation, and emotional strength. We’ll work together to understand the root of your feelings and create small, meaningful steps toward change. You deserve support that helps you feel lighter, more present, and more like yourself again.

Trauma

Trauma can impact your emotions, relationships, and sense of safety—even long after the experience has passed. Therapy offers a safe, compassionate space to process what happened and begin healing at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we’ll work on reducing triggers, building emotional regulation, and helping your nervous system feel more stable. You don’t have to keep surviving—healing is possible.

Emotional Healing

Sometimes you’re functioning on the outside, but internally you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in old patterns. Emotional healing is about understanding your pain, releasing what no longer serves you, and reconnecting with your sense of self. In therapy, we’ll explore your experiences with compassion while building tools to help you feel more balanced and secure. You deserve to feel emotionally lighter and more at peace.

Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem can show up as self-doubt, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or feeling like you’re never “enough.” Therapy can help you challenge negative self-talk and build a healthier relationship with yourself. Together, we’ll strengthen your confidence, boundaries, and ability to trust your choices. You deserve to feel secure in who you are and proud of the life you’re creating.

Personal Growth

Therapy can help you gain clarity, build confidence, and create healthier habits that support the life you want. Together, we’ll explore what’s been holding you back and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to help you feel more aligned, empowered, and emotionally grounded in your day-to-day life.

Relationship and Family Therapy

Relationships can be deeply meaningful, but also stressful when communication breaks down or conflict becomes constant. Therapy can help couples and families improve understanding, rebuild trust, and create healthier ways of connecting. Together, we’ll work on communication skills, emotional safety, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck. You deserve relationships that feel supportive, respectful, and emotionally secure.

Stress Management

When stress is constant, it can affect your sleep, mood, focus, and overall health. Therapy can help you identify what’s draining you and create strategies to feel more balanced and in control. Together, we’ll build tools for boundaries, emotional regulation, and self-care that fit your lifestyle. You don’t have to live in survival mode—relief is possible.

Life Transitions

Life transitions can bring uncertainty, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm—even when the change is positive. Whether you’re navigating a breakup, new job, parenthood, relocation, or a new chapter in your life, therapy can help you feel supported through the process. Together, we’ll work on coping skills, confidence, and clarity as you adjust. You deserve guidance that helps you move forward with strength and peace.
